GSSE General Assembly and Technical Commission Meeting

The General Assembly and Technical Commission Meeting of the Games of the Small States of Europe will be held on Friday and Saturday in Budva. After the meetings conclusion, there will be a ceremony which will officially mark one year before the beginning of the biggest multi-sport competition in Montenegro, GSSE Montenegro 2019.

In honor of the occasion, a "Minister's Dinner" was held last night at "Hotel Splendid", where the guests were greeted by the Minister of Sports Nikola Janovic and the President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dusan Simonovic.

The Games of the Small States of Europe will be held next year from May 26 to June 1 in Budva, Podgorica, Bar, Cetinje and Tivat.

"We have done a lot of work in the previous period and are convinced that we will do everything necessary in the following period, to present Montenegro in its best light", said the President of MOC Dusan Simonovic.

The Assembly in Budva will be attended by delegates from nine European countries – Malta, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Iceland, Cyprus, Monaco and Montenegro – whose athletes will compete in the 18th Games of the Small States of Europe that are taking place next year.

More than a thousand competitors are expected to participate, as well as a thousand more members of national teams – coaches, medical staff…, and the officials of National Olympic and Sports Associations.

"I also believe that Montenegrin companies will be interested in presenting themselves throughout this competition. The state has helped us a lot, but we expect more aid as well, as we have outlined in our plans and studies, which we have timely provided. There's a bit of clutter, but in a positive sense, being that we have never organized a competition that brings together over a thousand athletes, not counting the other members of the delegation", said President Simonovic.

He stressed that he was very happy that Minister of Sports Nikola Janovic expressed his readiness, interest and maximum commitment to help.

"This is not just a job for MOC, this is a state project and we all have to do everything together to present ourselves on the highest level", Simonovic emphasized.

Minister Janovic said that for Montenegro "this organization is not only a competition, but also an obligation to keep it all in the best possible order".

"I am happy for the fact that the Montenegrin Olympic Committee has done everything necessary so far in preparation. The Government of Montenegro is providing support for this competition both institutionally and financially, being that it is important for our country. Games of the Small States of Europe will have an outstanding effect on sport and sport tourism. I wish all the best to the Montenegrin Olympic Committee in the organization of this event, and I am convinced that all participants of this prestigious competition will have beautiful memory of not only the Games themselves, but also of the time spent in our country", Janovic said
