The Games will be held from 29 May to 1 June.
President of the Municipality Marko Carevic has expressed his pleasure that such an event will be held in Montenegro, which is important not only for Budva but for the whole region.
"This competition and the Olympic Movement are something that brings together the region and something that is very significant. I hope that Budva will be a good host and that the quality and standards will be high. Sport is of great importance and needs a lot of support and investments in order to improve the conditions for it, which will enable our young athletes to compete equally both here and around the world", said Carevic
The Games of the Small States for Europe are a major challenge for the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, according to its President, Dusan Simonovic.
"We will have a lot of work during the days of the competition. Budva will be a host to 1,000 athletes and close to 2,000 sport officials, journalists and accompanying staff.
There is a considerable interest, not only for sports, but for everything that Montenegro carries with it, with the main focus on sports at this moment. We will also welcome the President of the European Olympic Committee, who visited Montenegro before and is our great friend, Mr. Janez Kocijancic. This will be a great honour for Montenegro, and we will use this opportunity to present ourselves in a better way, to both Mr. Bach and to the world”, said Simonovic.
Both the Municipality of Budva and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee see this memorandum is an excellent starting point for a productive cooperation between them in organizing such an important event. They are certain that Budva will be a pleasant host for the participants of the Games of the Small States of Europe.
